PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO BRINGING YOUR CAT TO CHRISTINE'S CAT CARE

When cat/s are found to have fleas after arrival at the Cattery, it causes a lot of extra work and expense as well as being very stressful for the cat/s. I have therefore introduced advice and costs to cover this should it happen.

1. Please Flea/Worm & Tick treat your cat/s around 4 - 5 days prior to arrival and use a treatment that will last the duration of the cat/s stay. Most vets treatments last 1 - 3 months. NOTE - some treatments bought over the counter are not effective enough to treat a cat fully and fleas can still survive.

2. Please comb your cat/s using a flea comb after treatment to ensure all fleas are dead and all flea dirt has been removed prior to arrival. Flea dirt cannot be seen clearly on some cats coats and this will ensure cats have no live fleas and dead fleas/flea dirt is removed.

When flea dirt drops from a cat it can be distinguished from ordinary dirt as it will turn red when it is wet. It looks like blood spots.

Although I try my best to prevent cross contamination, when a cat/cats come to the Cattery with fleas, it puts all other cats at risk of getting them. It also means that I have to check/comb all other cats and spray treat the affected chalet and leave it for at least 2 hours, once the cat/cats have left. This has a knock on effect if I have another booking as I cannot allow them into the chalet at the organised time. You may be asked to collect you cat at least 2 hours earlier than the planned time for this reason.

If cats do have active fleas on arrival or when noticed in first few days, if cat is timid and hiding from me, I will need to contact the owner (or emergency contact) and either ask them to get an effective treatment from their vets and deliver it to me or I can treat your cat/s with Advantage flea treatment which I keep a stock of. There will be an additional cost for each treatment given and this will be payable by bank transfer as soon as possible or by cash on collection of your cat/cats. This will be £25 per cat and covers flea treatment, administration, regular combing, extra cleaning of chalet & laundry costs and spray treatment of chalet once cat/cats have left. I am happy to administer any treatments prescribed by a vet but there will be a cost of £20 per cat to cover extra costs as mentioned above.

Thank you.
